Criminal Court Proceedings
In all criminal cases, the judge, or jury if there is one, will hear all the evidence and will reach a verdict about whether an accused person is guilty or not.
If an accused is found guilty, the judge, sheriff or magistrate will make a decision about any sentence or punishment
You can read more about these court procedures in the leaflets from VIA (see www.crownoffice.gov.uk) or by asking for further information from the person who has cited you as a witness.
