The judge or sheriff and the lawyers don't know what happened. You need to help them by telling the court what you know. There are some important things that can make this easier.
- Always listen carefully
- Speak clearly
- You have to speak out loud (but don't shout)
- What you tell the court is your own evidence
- You must make sure that you understand what each question means before you answer
- You shouldn't try to guess or make up an answer
- Remember that you don't have to agree with everything the procurator fiscal, the reporter or the lawyers say to you
You should always tell the truth.
