Visiting the Court

You might not have been to a court before. Most young people feel better about being a witness if they know what to expect and have visited the court beforehand.

This is a really good idea. You can look around, meet some of the court staff and if you want, you can practise using the screen or television link. If you are going to give your evidence from some other place you should arrange to visit this instead.

VIA or the lawyer will arrange a court visit for you and the Witness Service will be there to show you around and help answer your questions. In the case of Children's Hearing court cases, the children's reporter, a social worker or a lawyer can arrange for you to visit the court.

You can see what a courtroom looks like on this website.
